A little about me
I grew up mainly in Japan, raised between two languages — by a British father, an applied linguist, and a Japanese mother. My interpreting career began with a coincidence: at Ars Electronica, the media arts festival in Austria, I had the pleasure of interpreting and co-writing the speech for Zenbo Hidaka, a priest of the Koyasan Shingon school, presenting on artificial intelligence and spirituality. One connection has led to another, and I've been working as an interpreter and translator ever since.

Aima (合間) is the Japanese word for the space between things — a pause, an interval. An (庵) is a small hermitage: a quiet hut where one sits and works. Aima-an is a little hermitage built in the space between two languages.

自己紹介
応用言語学者のイギリス人の父と日本人の母のもと、主に日本で育ちました。通訳の仕事は、うれしい偶然から始まりました。オーストリアのメディアアートの祭典「アルスエレクトロニカ」で、高野山真言宗僧・飛鷹全法様が「人工知能と知性」について語る講演の通訳とスピーチ原稿づくりをご一緒させていただいたのです。以来、さまざまなご縁が繋がって通訳・翻訳として活動させていただいています。
